Princess Diana’s former butler reveals her private letter about her two sons

Paul Burrell, former butler to Princess Diana, has revealed a never-before-seen private letter Diana wrote to him with some very poignant words about her two sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

The ex-royal servant revealed a snippet of the letter on Instagram in which Diana offers some particularly meaningful words for her boys, 23 years after her death.

Media reports have hinted at a rift between the two princes as a result of Harry and Meghan’s shock announcement that they would be stepping down as senior royals. The couple have since moved to Canada and now California to start their new life.

“I love my boys to death and hope that the seeds I’ve planted will grow and bring the strength, knowledge, and stability that is needed,” Diana writes, according to the excerpt Burrell posted.

Burrell says he was sharing the message because: “They are a mother’s words of unconditional love which are as appropriate today as they were when she wrote them over 24 years ago,” he said on his Instagram post.

“I wanted to send my support to Harry, Meghan and Archie as they embark on a new life so far away from our shores.” he added.

He also published another excerpt from a letter penned by Diana to him saying: “In my heart I know that she would want Harry and Meghan to be happy above all else. Yesterday I found a letter which the Princess wrote to me so many years ago and one line jumped out from the page. In her hand she wrote…’I would look up and laugh and love and live.'”

Diana wrote the letter to her personal butler not long before she was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

Prince Harry referenced his mother in a speech hinting at why he and Meghan were taking a step back from royal duties.

Following the speech Harry gave in Miami for JP Morgan, a source told the New York Post that Harry revealed he had been in therapy over the past few years to help with the trauma of losing his mother.

He also said he didn’t regret their decision to step down as senior royals because he wanted to protect his family, as reported by British newspaper the Express.

“He does not want Meghan and their son Archie to go through what he did as a child,” the Express reported citing the New York Post.

Let’s hope that media speculation claiming the brothers have healed any possible rift is accurate.
