Rude 20-year-old asks mom with baby to ‘shut that thing up’ – then his dad stands up and takes action

Lucy Hatami was tired of sitting at home with her 8-month-old son. The British mom had only taken her baby outside the house on her own a couple times, so it was still a bit of an adventure. But she wanted to treat herself to a nice breakfast at a restaurant and bundled up her baby boy and headed out.

Then, what should have been a peaceful meal, turned into an unpleasant experience.

Lucy’s son started screaming and crying inside the restaurant. While not surprising in itself, Lucy wasn’t expecting the reaction from a nearby table.

“I wish she’d shut that thing up,” muttered a 20-year-old guy.

Lucy was completely stunned — and before she could open her mouth, a stranger stood up and took action.

Lucy Hatami was out having breakfast with her 8-month-old when her little boy started crying and screaming. And as if that weren’t enough, a young man at a nearby table started criticizing Lucy and her baby boy.

“I wish she’d shut that thing up,” the young man muttered.

Then something unexpected happened.

Lucy writes about the event on Facebook:

“That moment when you’re in a restaurant trying to have breakfast whilst your 8-month-old son is crying and a boy (early 20s) muttering, ‘I wish she’d shut that thing up!”

“Before I could even respond, his dad comes up behind him clips him round the ear and says, ‘What and you think you were perfect? You were a right little sod.'”

“Now stop being a brat, go up there and apologize to her and offer to get her breakfast as she clearly has her hands full!”

The young man listened to his dad, got up from the chair and walked over to the buffet.

“So I got my buffet breakfast with waiter service along with a lovely coffee. Thank you to that dad who even after 20 odd years still remembers the difficulty of being parents to babies,” Lucy writes on Facebook.

A round of applause for this young man’s father, who realized that it’s never too late to teach your child an important lesson in respect and consideration.

Please share this on Facebook if you think this dad did the right thing and taught him a real lesson!
