Hero mailman: Letter carrier saves a woman’s life after finding her child wandering outside

Stephen, who has been on the delivery route for 32 years and sees the boy every day, immediately asked him if he knew where his mother was.

“It did look out of place,” he said.

“So when I grabbed the child I said, ‘Where’s your mother?’

Visibly frightened, the boy pointed beyond his front porch and inside his home.

Stephen ran inside and discovered the child’s mother, Stephanie. She was hunched over her son’s stroller – having a bad reaction to her medication.

According to Stephen, Stephanie was totally unconscious and unresponsive.

“That’s when I called 911 and the first responders (got) here as fast as they could to render first aid”, he told CBS.

Fortunately, Stephanie was revived.

But if Stephen didn’t try to help her, things would be much more different.

“If it wasn’t for him, the EMT wouldn’t have gotten there as quickly and I would’ve been brought to the hospital”, Stephanie said.

Neither rain nor snow can stay these postal couriers from their rounds, but you don’t need to follow a motto to be a good person.

“He’s an amazing guy in general,” she said. “You don’t think of him as a postman, you think of him as a guy who walks around.

In many ways, Stephen is like another neighbor. But one postal worker has added a new title: Life saver.

“Every time I see him, he says ‘How are you doing today?,’” said Wilson. “I say I’m doing good and thank you very much. I thank him every day.”

And last week, the United States Postal Service presented him with a rare honor: The Life Saving Award.

Great story! So thankful he was there to help! Not many people realize the postal service makes the world go round…

As a former letter carrier myself, people don’t take us for granted but I have those few that do!

Thank God for your kindness Stephen, Bless your heart…
