Lucille was the star of “I Love Lucy” and not without good reason. She meticulously rehearsed every line and every facial expression so each scene would be perfect.
Perhaps the most memorable was the episode when her on screen character Lucy gives birth to Little Ricky, the same day the real-life Lucy delivered her son Desi Jr. by cesarean.
It was a groundbreaking moment as up until that point CBS had insisted that you couldn’t show a pregnant woman on television.
Made history
The show, which ran from 1951 to 1957, was the number one show for four of its seasons.
Lucille ended up making history when she bought Desilu Productions, making her the first woman to run a major television production studio.
Now Lucille’s gread granddaughter Desiree Anzalone is all grown up and not only looks like her but has also inherited her fighting spirit.
Lucille’s son Desi Jr fathered a daughter Julia during a relationship he had with a model when he was just 15 years old.
Julia and her father spent years apart until they were reunited in the 90s, but it was after Lucille passed so she never got to meet her iconic grandmother.
Julia was pregnant when she found out about her grandma’s passing.
I was very pregnant with my daughter Desido and I remember just falling to my knees knowing I’d never get the chance to ever met my G-ma- in this lifetime,” Julia wrote in a post on Facebook.

Julia named her daughter in honor of her Emmy Award-winning grandmother Lucille – the actress’ middle name was Desiree.
Desiree turns 30 this year and is a photographer with a degree in creative writing from the University of North Texas.
At only 25 years old she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent grueling treatment. She ultimately beat the disease.
This young woman has true fighting spirit, the kind her great grandmother would have been proud of.
