Gerber is an iconic baby food brand; since its humble beginnings in 1927 its products now span 80 countries.
Inspired by his pediatrician wife Dorothy who made hand-strained food for their 7-month old daughter, Daniel Frank Gerber recognized the business opportunity and the Gerber business was born.
It’s an instantly recognizable brand with the image of the cute Gerber baby. Ann Cook Turner was the very first Gerber baby in 1928 and more recently a new Gerber baby was chosen.
Lucas Warren was selected in February 2018 out of 140,000 entries as the newest baby face of Gerber.
Now the two have come together in a historical moment where the original Gerber baby was introduced to Lucas, the first baby with Down syndrome to be chosen for the role.
And the pictures are adorable.

Lucas Warren, from Dalton Georgia, stole everybody’s hearts after being selected in 2017 and named as the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby.
His beautiful smiling face left nobody in any doubt that Gerber had found one of the cutest babies around.
Ann Turner Cook became the very first Gerber baby after artist Dorothy Hope Smith submitted a charcoal sketch of the then 5-month-old to the company’s first advertising campaign.

Recently the two were able to meet.
My grandmother was the Gerber baby. It was a funny bit of trivia, never made her rich or got us free strained peas or anything. But last week she got to meet the company's newest spokesbaby, named Lucas. Pretty pretttty cute. pic.twitter.com/u7ddWaM1Ed

Lucas’ parents said their son instantly fell in love with Ann on their first meeting.
“Lucas walked right up to her, flashing his signature smile and waving, and we could tell he loved her right away. He even grabbed two cookies and offered her one, which she accepted!” USA Today reports
There is a 90-year age difference between the pair, but their signature smiles make it clear why these two were chosen.
The photo of these gorgeous Gerber babies together quickly went viral. Gerber also shared the sweet photo on Instagram with the hashtags “#HistoryMade” and “#AnythingForBaby”

Bill Partyka, president and CEO of Gerber, said, Lucas’ winning smile and joyful expression stole their hearts.
He added of Lucas’ 2018 win,”Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this year, Lucas is the perfect fit.”
The company even had a celebration to mark Lucas’ second birthday.
