Update: 5-year-old boy thrown from Mall of America balcony “alert and conscious”, family praising Jesus

The family of the 5-year-old boy thrown from a third-floor Mall of America balcony are thanking Jesus as he continues to show signs of recovery.

Things looked bleak for little Landen Hoffman when he fell almost 40-feet to the ground after being thrown by 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda in an unprovoked attack. The 5-year-old suffered severe head injuries and broken bones, but he’s thus far defied the odds.

According to reports, the boy is “alert and conscious”, and no longer in critical condition.

As per the New York Post, the statement read: “We are now turning our focus to additional surgeries, healing, rehabilitation and eventually a return home, which we hope will happen by June.”

Hoffman has been in critical condition since the attack on April 12, with many fearing that if he survived he would be damaged for life. The latest reports appear to allay those concerns, however, with his family claiming Jesus “saved our son’s life and is healing him in the most miraculous ways.”

Aranda, meanwhile, has been charged by prosecutors with having tried to kill Hoffman.

He told officers previously that he had travelled to the mall on the day of April 12 intending to kill someone. His original plan had been to kill an adult, though Landen became his target when he saw him standing close to the balcony.

We’re so thankful that Landen is thus far making an miraculous recovery. We will continue to send our thoughts and prayers until he’s better.
