During his 16-year life, Christian Guardino has gone through more than most of us could ever imagine.
Christian was diagnosed with Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), a rare retinal disease, when he was but a young boy. Sadly, darkness was all he knew for most of his young life – so he turned to music as a way of escaping.
Then, a miracle happened. After being blind for years, he got the opportunity to be part of a revolutionary treatment program that would alter his life forever.
When he got his sight back, Christian continued with his biggest passion: Singing.
He decided to share his gift with the world, taking to the stage for America’s Got Talent. When he did, though, his nerves took control and he shook uncontrollably.

When one of the world’s most renowned judges – and exceptionally harsh critic – Simon Cowell heard Christian sing, he said: “You were like a little mouse that turned into a lion. You are one of my favorite contestants I’ve seen this year. Not only in terms of your voice. I just like you. There’s something about you, and it’s just the best possible feeling when we meet someone like you.”
And Simon wasn’t the only judge to be blown away by the 16-year-old. With a huge smile on his face, Howie Mandel took the plunge and did something that left Christian in tears. You can see what happened, for yourself, by hitting the “play” button below!
