Italian singer songwriter Andrea Bocelli has charmed the whole world with his amazing voice, but now there’s a new Bocelli on the music scene – and it’s none other than Andrea’s son Matteo.
Matteo is one of two sons from Bocelli’s 1992 marriage to Enrica Cenzatti. Not only does Matteo look like his father, but he has inherited his musical genes too.
The 21-year-old tenor-in-training has sung alongside his dad many times, but nothing compares to their recent duet on Dancing with the Stars.
The pair recently performed their single Fall On Me on the American TV show Dancing with the Stars whilst the professional dancers performed a nutcracker-inspired dance.
Fall On Me will be used as the soundtrack to the end credits of the upcoming Disney movie The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, which will be released on 2nd November.
They really sang their hearts out while playing the piano side-by-side and nothing could distract them for their performance – the Bocelli men were obviously in the zone!
In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Andrea shared how proud he was of Matteo for following the music in his heart and how much he enjoy playing alongside his son!
”Matteo was raised on ‘bread and music.’ While in high school, he also studied piano at the conservatory (where he is now studying opera). He is passionate about opera and has already performed in serious venues. He seems inclined to follow his father’s footsteps, even though an artistic career is made up of many things, at times unknowable, and cannot certainly be devised at the drawing table.
Andrea Bocelli reflected on making music with his son and explained to Billboard what it was like to blend their voices:
“Technically they are very different, but there is one thing that makes them most similar: the attitude. That characteristic way of expressing yourself through your voice.
“This makes Matteo and I very similar. But that is something that you cannot learn, that cannot be taught. That is something you are born with.”
