Couple perform risky moves in swing dance competition – watch the audience go crazy

These seasoned swing stars have made quite a name for themselves on the national and world dance circuit.

Despite being from opposite sides of the country Ben Morris, from Orange County, California and Jennifer DeLuca from Orange County, Florida, don’t let distance get in the way of coming up with amazing routines.

In the video you’re about to see the talented couple took some risks in performing an unconventional swing dance routine, but clearly these two know what they’re doing.

The audience held their breath as they showed off their skills and took swing to a whole new level. When they finished their wasn’t anyone left seated.

When they walked out onto the floor at the Capital Swing Dancers’ Presidents’ Day weekend  they got ready to perform in the classic division.

But their routine was anything but classic. The audience watching at the Red Lion Woodlake Hotel in Sacramento saw some new moves in swing dance!

Even their dress was unconventional with Jennifer opting for black slacks and metal studs instead of  the traditional floral A-line dress we’re used to seeing women wear when performing this style of dance.

As the audience watch with mouths open, mesmerized, they perform a flawless routine to George Thorogood’s bluesy-rock song.

At one point Ben uses Jennifer’s outstretched arm as a microphone to lip sync. It’s dazzling!

Swing dance is a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music between the 1920s and 1940s. I usually associate it with lots of lifts, spins and flips by dancers dressed in styles from that era.

But, Jennifer and Ben’s performance flips all these expectations on their head, bringing this classic straight into the 21st Century.

It’s no wonder Ben and Jennifer won first place at this competition!
