When Elvis Presley passed away in 1977 aged 42, his only child Lisa Marie was just nine years old.
For her, his death left a huge hole and she recently revealed that she looked for her father’s guidance through a recent rough patch in her life.
She found that guidance through his music and has now released an emotional duet with her late father and the result is spine-chillingly beautiful.
During an interview on the British talk show “Lorraine,” Lisa Marie said that recently her memories with her father were at the forefront of her mind, more than four decades after his passing.
After a recent bad patch in her life when she struggled with addiction, the mother of four looked to her father for a helping hand.
“I wouldn’t say I talk to him. I just remember everything,” she said in the interview. “I can sort of pull out of the files whatever memories I have and stuff like that. And occasionally ask for help. Which was the case with this record. I just felt like a hand came down to me, it felt like that a little bit.”
The new duet, Elvis’ hit gospel song “Where No One Stands Alone” was a way for her to feel closer to her father during a time in her life when she needed him most.
With the help of her late father, Lisa Marie was able to perform a duet and the result is stunning. Their voices blend perfectly; she’s clearly inherited his talent for singing.
