Man in subway sings ‘Unchained Melody’, passengers stop in their tracks when they hear his voice

Commuting in New York is sometimes quite stressful: it’s loud, there are lots of people, and cars are cramped. To be honest, it can be a bit of a nightmare. But if you regularly commute using the subway system, you know that there can be some pleasant moments, too.

Every now and then, you come across some very talented street musicians who make your day a little better and brighter.

Mike Yung is one of them.

Mike Yung has been singing in the subway for over 37 years and he has so much soul that it is impossible not to stop when you hear him.

In the clip below, Mike sings a truly magical rendition of “Unchained Melody” that blows everyone away.

When I first heard this performance, I got goosebumps all over my body. It’s not often you hear a singer with such power and passion in his soul.

You can see that some commuting New Yorkers were, for a couple of minutes, blown away by his voice.

Not every singer becomes famous, but the subway in New York can be a good place to simply be at the right place at the right time. This video, in which he sings “Unchained Melody,”  was viewed over 2 million times in just one week.

It also got Mike Yung the subway singer a ticket to America’s Got Talent, where he made it to the semifinals.

This is what singing from the heart means.
