There are so many talent shows now showcasing all the great amateur singers of the world. The competition is getting tougher and the shows are making it harder for singers to get through.
The latest talent show to hit the screens in the U.K. is BBC show “All Together Now” where 100 celebrities watch an amateur singer and however many stand up is the final score.
No one could possibly get a perfect 100 score? Or could they?
Michael Rice, from Hartlepool, England, was working in McDonald’s when he decided to seriously pursue his singing career and just see where it took him.
The shy, nervous young man took to busking on the streets of his local town at weekends.
‘I’m really nervous’
One day someone recorded him and posted the video on social media, it was met with a great response and he says he started to get recognized.
As well as having to impress 100 judges with his latest performance, he also has to beat the scores of three other contestants to get through.
He announces his name and admits “I’m really nervous,” to which the judges look unsure of him.
He rocks the first few notes of Tina Turner hit “Proud Mary” and the judges look really excited.
When the upbeat notes kick in 90 judges immediately stand up.
Failed to get past the bootcamp stage
The result? He was able to impress all 100 judges!
The road to singing stardom hasn’t been easy for Michael.
In 2014, he appeared on the 11th season of The X Factor in the U.K. but failed to get past the Bootcamp stage.
He came back strong with his Tina Turner performance and went on to win the whole show with a cover of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, impressing 94 judges.
After winning “All Together Now”, he’s now set to represent England at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel, in May. He will perform the song “Bigger than Us”.
Michael is such a light personality but a beast on stage! First line if the song and I felt goosebumps….
Michael is a perfect example of someone who doesn’t give up in their quest to succeed, despite the bumps in the road.
His amazing story is just an example of how a person should do everything in his will to fulfill his dreams
You shouldn’t doubt yourself and what you can do with your talent. And if you hear negative things from other people, just ignore them completely..
