Cracker Barrel manager helps couple struggling to eat while holding sleeping child

If you spend a lot of time on the road like I do, then you know the relief of finding a good stop. Just being able to get out, stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat feels like a blessing after hours of driving.

One of my favorite spots is Cracker Barrel – the traditional food alongside a healthy dose of Southern charm is just what you need to recharge. Anyone who has walked through their doors knows that it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge.

That’s exactly what the couple below were looking for when they took a break at this Cracker Barrel to get something to eat.

As they tried to enjoy their meals, they were trying not to wake up their grandson, who was sleeping on their shoulders.

When the restaurant’s manager saw them struggling, he stepped forward to offer a helping hand…

It was the middle of a busy second shift when manager Doug noticed the couple trying to eat. Being a father of twins himself, he didn’t hesitate to step in and ease the burden.

“This is the best manager I’ve ever had,” writes a Cracker Barrel employee in a post on Facebook page Love What Matters.

“While Doug was checking on all the tables, he saw the couple were trying to balance holding their grandchild and eating, at the same time. This man proceeded to ask to hold the baby, so they could fully enjoy their meal.”

Doug’s kind gesture didn’t go unnoticed by his colleagues and customers.

“This brought tears,” the employee continued. “Definitely a wonderful man and great daddy. You don’t see such kindness very often anymore!”

This is real customer service! We could all do with a little help every now and then, and it’s even better when someone offers without being asked. Great job, Doug!
