The first time Sophie Miller met her great-grandmother she was a baby but at 5-years-old she was about to meet her again. Unfortunately the meeting was tinged with sadness as her great-grandmother, who lives in London, has dementia.
It’s hard to see our loved ones sick. Understandably Sophie, from Ireland, was a little nervous and her parents were worried and unsure as to how both of them would react.
Sophie’s parents weren’t sure what was going to happen when she met her great-grandmother Breda; children can be unpredictable, but the two clearly have a special bond, despite the miles and years between them.
Without any hesitation Sophie went straight to Breda and cuddled up next to her and started to sing a special song in their family “You Are My Sunshine.”
Her mother described the meeting as “wonderful” with Breda full of smiles as her great-granddaughter strokes her face as she sings. It’s clear that the meeting left them all very emotional
“We were worried (Sophie) would be scared… but she wasn’t. She was sitting up, rubbing her face, singing songs to her and chatting away… she loved it,” Sarah told the Irish Independent.

Watching these two together is so touching and Sophie’s visit and subsequent visits must bring such joy to her great-grandmother’s life.
