Matthew McConaughey plays virtual bingo with seniors in quarantine

Matthew McConaughey has long since established himself as one of the good guys in Hollywood; talented on screen and a nice person off of it.

The 50-year-old Texan has previously shown his support to people in need, including during the terrible wildfires in California last year.

During the coronavirus crisis, the famous actor is doing what he can for his fellow human beings. Yesterday, McConaughey provided a bit of surprise entertainment for seniors in quarantine at a Texas senior living facility.

To the great joy of the residents, McConaughey hosted virtual bingo for seniors at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in Round Rock. Through the use of video chat you could hear him enthusiastically calling out numbers and joking with the elderly.

“We got Charles… with the iPad up high….we got two winners!” the actor was heard screaming as many of the seniors were caught smiling in the background.

McConaughey even included his whole family to entertain the residents.

“During a time when we are all working to make lemonade out of lemons, we are so humbled that Matthew took the time to play our favorite game with us. As Matthew would say, let’s turn this red light into a green light!,” the living facility wrote on Facebook.

It was the seniors themselves who requested that McConaughey should attend their bingo night. The residents had been inviting the Texas-born actor to join them since September last year – and now he finally answered the call.

Since the actor is sitting at home during the corona crisis, everything had to be arranged through video chat – but that didn’t seem to matter to the participants.

It became one successful and unforgettable evening for the elderly.

“This was a wish come true! The residents absolutely loved seeing Matthew and his family and enjoyed hearing him talk about what he’s doing to get through this crisis,” Sales director at the facility, Molly Davis Nedley, told CBS Austin.

“It gave them hope and was the boost that they needed to get through this lonely, challenging time.”
