Neil Patrick Harris has been on our screens for 30 years, first as teenage doctor in the title role ‘Doogie Howser’ before playing Barney Stinson on much-loved sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’
He played the smartly-dressed womanizer Stinson for nine years, but in real life he is a world away from this character.
Neil appeared alongside David Burtka on the set of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and the two started dating. In 2004 they married and are marking their 15th anniversary this year.
In a heartfelt Instagram post to his husband, Neil spoke about the special life they share together and how thankful he is to have met David.
Almost one million people have loved the post commenting on what a wonderful example of couples’ goals.
Neil Patrick Harris, 45, married David Burtka, 43, in 2004 and have a twin son and daughter.
In a post Neil shared on their anniversary he writes how grateful he is to David for “giving me his heart.”
Harris posted a loving picture of himself and Burtka in a hot pool and offered a dedication to their love.
He thanked David for giving him his shoulder, strength, laughter and joy and didn’t forget to credit him for being a wonderful parent.
He also wrote: We’ve been nearly inseparable ever since, giving a string statement of the couple’s undying love for each other.
The two celebrated their 15th anniversary with a dinner at the fine dining restaurant the Manhatta in lower Manhattan, New York.
‘Look at our view!’
The restaurant is on the 60th floor and Neil shared a short video on Instagram of the idyllic location and how he was surprised by David.
He said, “It’s our 15th anniversary and I got surprised by this guy…Look at our view! Hope you’re not afraid of heights,” he wrote.
David also shared a post on their anniversary revealing the two had met on a street and expressed how lucky he was to have met Neil and was thankful to him for making his world “a better place.”
Thousands of people were quick to comment on the couple’s posts with congratulatory messages.
‘THE couple goal of all the couple goals’
A Twitter handle by the name, lolly wrote: “I would like everyone to know that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have known each other for 15 years and they are THE couple goal of all the couple goals you could ever know. I’m emotional. :’)”
Neil married Cordon-Bleu trained chef David in Italy, after dating for a couple of years.
Burtka has written a cookbook called Life Is A Party: Deliciously Doable Recipes to Make Every Day a Celebration. Released on April 16, it is a spinoff from his 2016 Food Network special called Life’s a Party with David Burtka.
Back then, Burtka told People that the book is based on his life with Harris and through it he wanted people to get a glimpse into his life, his home, and his kids and family as a whole.
The two adopted fraternal twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott, in 2011. They were born on October 12 through surrogacy birth.
