Newborn baby found dumped in a trash-filled ditch, bleeding and covered in maggots

A baby is recovering in hospital after she was found in a trash-filled ditch covered in flies.

Just hours after she was born, a sanitation worker found the baby girl in the stinky ditch in the Sichuan province of China, as per reports.

She was found with her face, ear canals, nostrils and hair full of fly eggs and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

A hole in her head where her skull was visible was bleeding. Miraculously this baby is in a stable condition.

Now police are questioning the baby’s 17-year-old mother and 46-year-old grandmother.

Weighing just 4lbs 10oz, her pulse was weak and her whole body felt cold, according to a statement from Jiangyou People’s Hospital which is treating the child.

The baby also had a tiny hole on her head where blood kept coming out.

She was dumped in a stinky ditch with her umbilical cord and placenta still attached less than 24 hours after she was born, according to the Daily Mail.

‘100,000 babies abandoned every year in China’

The baby, who was in a critical condition when she was found, was given first aid treatment at the scene and then rushed to hospital where a team of six doctors worked for hours to save her.

Her condition has stabilized and she is being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Around 100,000 babies are abandoned in China every year – an equivalent to more than 270 a day, according to the Daily Mail.

We hope this baby girl makes a full recovery and can find good people to give her the love she needs and deserves.

Please share to pay tribute to the sanitation worker who saved her and the medical staff who worked around the clock to save her.
