We like to think we live in a time that is fairly accepting of everyone, but the sad truth is we still see endless hate crimes carried out based on people’s race, background, religion and sexual orientation.
If we want to see a change, it’s important that we shed light on these terrible actions.
And always remember: just one degrading word can have devastating consequences.

Everybody has the right to be loved for who they are, and nobody should have to be afraid of revealing their sexual orientation to their friends and family.
Giovanni Melton was a happy 14-year-old who spread joy amongst his friends at Coronado High School, USA.

Giovanni’s foster mother, Sonja Jones, states that Wendell was extremely upset over his son’s orientation, and said that he’d rather have a dead son than a son who was gay.
According to Sonja, Wendell caught Giovanni with his boyfriend, which caused him to kill his son, reports 3 News Las Vegas.
