Pizza delivery guy hailed a hero after spotting woman in distress and alerting police

It was an ordinary evening delivering pizzas for Joey Grundl when he called at a house and saw something that stopped him in his tracks.

Dean Hoffmann answered the door of the house in Wisconsin to Joey who handed him the pizza he ordered. Thankfully Joey was observant and noticed a woman behind him who was in bad shape.

The woman pointed at her black eye and mouthed “call police” to Joey. He then had to act like nothing had happened while he calmly stepped away from the house and back to his car where he immediately dialed 911.

‘It’s kind of scary’

Thanks to Joey’s fast actions the woman was saved from a terrifying kidnapping situation and Joey has been hailed a hero.

“It’s kind of scary,” Joey told WTKR News. “Gave him his pizza, and noticed behind him was his girlfriend. She pointed to a black eye that was quite visible. She mouthed the words ‘call police.'”

According to the news station Hoffmann was the woman’s ex boyfriend and had entered her home uninvited. He then punched her in the face and tied her to the bed.

The woman said Hoffmann remarked that he “should have brought his gun in from the car so that he could shoot both of them,” WTKR News reported.

Police arrested Hoffmann and charged him with kidnapping, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, felony intimidation of a victim and burglary of a building.

Joey is a real hero who deserves to be praised!
