It’s been over a decade since the world lost movie legend Patrick Swayze.
The heartthrob Hollywood actor was a staple of movie blockbusters through the ’80s and ’90s and went from dancing, to playing cowboy to New York City drag queen; his versatility was exceptional.
One of the most iconic on-screen actors of his era, Swayze is best remembered as the romantic lead in classics like Dirty Dancing and Ghost.
Tragically he left us all too soon when he died at the age of 57 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He not only had a legion of fans off screen but many of his on-screen co-stars were also in awe of his talent and have shared their fondest memories of the actor in a documentary.
Fellow Hollywood heartthrob Rob Lowe said in the documentary called I Am Patrick Swayze: “Patrick performed like he had something to prove, he was a gymnast, a world class cowboy, a ballet dancer, really?!”
The documentary features Swayze’s wife Lisa Niemi alongside movie stars Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and Sam Elliott all against a backdrop of some of Swayze’s most iconic movie moments.
Sam Elliott and Swayze starred in the 1989 movie Road House in which Swayze played a cooler at a rough roadside bar while Elliott played his mentor and friend.
Elliott talks of the first time he saw Swayze acting and said: “I remember watching Patrick and thinking, that guy’s so good.”
Demi Moore said: “Patrick had something about him that was very rugged but also had that beautiful, gentle, sensuous ability to move.”
Actor Marshall Teague, who starred alongside Swayze in the cult movie Roadhouse described the moment Swayze jumped out of a plane in action thriller Point Break with Keanu Reeves.
“That’s him coming out of a plane and it’s in the movie, would everybody do that? Not a chance in hell,” he said.

He had a determination and ability that has left a lasting impression on all those who were fortunate to work with him.
May he continue to inspire others and delight them with all the iconic movies he made.
