Steve Harvey breaks his silence after getting the boot from NBC

Comedian and actress Melissa McCarthy is to take over TV show “Little Big Shots“. She replaces Steve Harvey who has hosted the kids’ talent show for three seasons.

Harvey has also lost a second gig, his long-running NBC daytime talk show “Steve” which he has hosted since 2012.

He is set to be replaced by singer Kelly Clarkson, who will host an hour-long talk show of her own, according to Variety.

Speaking after NBC announced he was being dropped the 62-year-old TV star admitted he was fearful for the future but comforted knowing it is God who will direct his path.

Steve was one of the creative minds behind the much-loved talent show “Little Big Shots” alongside Ellen DeGeneres. He’s hosted the show since 2016.

Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, recently posted a clip of her husband’s final speech to his audience during the last taping of “Steve,” which will likely air in June.

‘Damn I really am homeless’

In the clip the 62-year-old tells his audience “it’s all good,” adding that your life “ain’t nothing but a book,” and “I’ve had some good chapters.”

He also referred to some “bad chapters,” some chapters that went on longer than he would have liked, referring to the period in his life when he was homeless.

“I’m homeless, I’m still homeless, damn I really am homeless,” he said to laughs from the audience.

“But in this 62nd chapter, I’ve got my finger on the corner of the page,” Harvey said. “All I’m doing is I’m about to turn it.”

“I can’t wait to see what God’s got for me on that other page.”

Who is replacing Harvey on ‘Little Big Shots’?

NBC believes Melissa McCarthy can bring about a refreshing change to the show.

“Melissa’s just an incredible performer and incredible comedian, and she’ll bring a really fresh perspective to it,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s co-chairman of entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Melissa is a strong creative force with her own ideas. Changes will be apparent,” Telegdy told Variety

A date has not been set for the show’s return.

What will Harvey do now?

Despite losing two shows, Harvey will still be a regular face on our screens and will continue to feature in ABC’s “Family Feud.”

There is also reports that he may launch a digital version of his show, reports Variety  There’s allegedly “chatter that Harvey may establish a digital platform, possibly with Facebook.”

Is ‘Steve’ over?

New “Steve” episodes are set to air throughout June, and reruns will remain on the air until Kelly takes over the time slot in the fall.

I can’t imagine anyone doing the job better than Mr. Steven Harvey. I enjoy Melissa and have for years but the wisdom Steve in incomparable.
