The tragedy behind this image of a newborn baby smiling in the arms of his mother

Being a mom is one of the most beautiful things in life. From the moment a woman learns she is having a baby to the time of birth is an adventure filled with countless emotions and expectations.

When the baby is born it’s so important they are placed in their mother’s arms to help the bonding process. It’s also one of the most magical moments for a new mom to finally meet the baby she’s been carrying.

But for teen mom Teegan Barnard from England, it all ended in a terrible tragedy.

Teegan was left brain dead after childbirth.

The 17-year-old Teegan Barnard, from Hampshire, was excited about her pregnancy and could not wait to meet her son.

“She was so looking forward to being a mummy. She was so excited,” Teegan’s mom Abbie said, according to The Sun.

“I think people got fed up with us talking about it all the time. She had so much love for him and didn’t even get to show him.”

Teegan, who worked as a pizza chef, suffered complications during her labor – including a bleed which caused a cardiac arrest, a condition said to occur once in every 30,000 deliveries.

Thankfully Teegan’s son Parker was born healthy weighing 9lb 9oz and was placed in his mom’s arms. It’s a tragic image but one that Teegan’s devastated mom Abbie wanted to take so Parker could see it when he’s older.

Nurses performed CPR on Teegan but the young mom couldn’t be saved and was left with no brain activity. She stayed in hospital for a month with her family around her who placed her son in her arms at every opportunity.

“I put them together at every possible moment. Now she has gone we dress Parker in vests with his mum’s picture on. I want to keep her close to him always,” Teegan’s mom Abbie said, according to the Sun.

“She would have been the best mummy in the world. She had so much love for him and didn’t even get to show him.

“I miss her so much, it’s unbearable. I can’t imagine the future without her, not hearing her beautiful voice again.”

A fundraiser has now been put up to help Teegan’s family – but her mom is just heartbroken that her daughter won’t get to see her son grow up.

“I am so proud of Teegan and Parker. I just wish so much she was here to see it for herself,” she said.
