This simple trick will allow you to avoid parking tickets forever

1. Always check for signs before parking

Some places are free to park, while others cost money, and there are many places where you can’t park at all.

2. Park in the direction of traffic

Parking against the direction of traffic, even if you’re otherwise allowed to park in a space, will also get you a fine.

3. Avoid parking in front of garages and driveways

Parking in front of a garage or driveway can be very expensive. Getting your car back from a police tow pound is significantly more expensive than a normal parking ticket.

4. Never park close to a crosswalk

Be aware of crosswalks and make sure you park at least 30 feet (10 meters) from them. However, it might be permissible to park with a crosswalk behind you as long as your car doesn’t pose a risk to pedestrians. But always look around for parking signs to make sure you’re okay to park in that particular place.

5. Pay for the entire period

If park in a spot with a meter, pay for the full period. If you pay with a card, you can also get a fine, even if you were only 10 minutes late.

In some places, you can also pay with an app, making it easy to add more time if you’re running late.

6. Never park in a handicap spot

Of course, handicapped places can look inviting sometimes, since they’re always close to where you want to go. But keep in mind that those places are for people who actually need them.

Look on the bright side and enjoy the extra little walk you get by parking farther away. It’s good for your health!

Bonus tip:

Don’t argue with parking enforcement officers.

Is an officer writing a ticket right when you’re about get back into your car? Be nice. Screaming at a parking guard isn’t going to make them rip up the ticket.

On the other hand, being friendly might increase your chances of getting off easy.
