Couple adopts shelter puppy, gets home and soon realizes their big mistake

It’s always exciting when you make the decision to get a dog. You can start researching and visiting dogs’ homes to find the one that works best for your family.

For Robert Markham, he agreed to his wife getting a dog as long as it wasn’t a big one. So one day she returns home with what she was told was a Jack Russel terrier puppy. Her husband was pleased as he knew that particular breed didn’t get very big.

Then Yogi Bear the dog started to get bigger and bigger and Robert became suspicious.

Sue Markham got excited about looking for a dog for the family home. She knew that the husband did not want a big dog, so she started looking around local dogs’ homes with a small breed in mind.

One day she came home with a little puppy and told her husband it was a Jack Russell terrier, or so she thought it was…

As time passed their new addition grew bigger and bigger.

It actually turned out that their dog was in fact a Boston Great Dane. Robert had no idea that this furry giant would soon be a major part of their lives.

Weighs just over 200 pounds

But now Robert was already attached to the ever-growing dog, he wasn’t angry that they had been told the wrong breed because Yogi Bear had stolen his heart.

The giant Great Dane weighs about 200 pounds and is about 6 feet long, measuring from his nose to his tail.

“I thought, ‘How much trouble can a Jack Russell be?’” Sue Markham told the Daily Mail. “By the time he was five months old, he was bigger than any Jack Russell he came across at the park and he had this big tongue that lolled out of his mouth and a tail like a baseball bat.”

Scrambled eggs and sausages

The couple have fallen in love with their furry giant and Yogi Bear is pretty spoiled these days.

The Markham’s spend around $235 a month on food for the dog. Some of his favorite foods include scrambled eggs and sausages.
