When a loved one passes it’s only natural that you would want to honor their last wishes and for many that means scattering their ashes in a place that meant the most to them.
in 2009 20-year-old model Raden Soemawinata said a final farewell to his grandmother before scattering her ashes on Brighton Pier in Victoria, Australia.
But what he didn’t realize was that his day was about to take such a dramatic turn.
As he was respectfully scattering his grandmother’s ashes a 60 mph gust of wind blew against him, nearly knocking him off his feet.
The wind blew Bibi, a small Maltese-Shih Tzu mixed dog, into the sea and his owner screamed for help.
As Bibi struggled against the strong current Raden knew there was only one thing he could do and without hesitation got into the water.

The dog owner, Sue Drummond looked on with fear and hope.
Fortunately, Raden got in just in time and managed to save Bibi from the scary, high waves, saving the dog’s life, much to the relief of his owner.
Raden received a Compassionate Citizens Award from Animals Australia for his bravery that day. What a true animal hero!
