As the wildfire continues its deadly path of destruction through California thousands are taking part in the relief effort, whether it’s on the ground or with donations.
Rock band Metallica announced that it has donated $100,00 through its “All Within My Hands” foundation, toward the relief efforts and encouraged fans to “support those in need and first responders.”
The band’s foundation, set up in 2017 to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band for years, made a $50,000 donation each to the North Valley Community Foundation and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
“Sadly once again communities in California are experiencing historically devastating wild fires in both the Northern and Southern parts of the state,” Metallica’s foundation wrote in a statement.
Metallica continued, “We would like to encourage you to join us in supporting those in need and our first responders in any way you can by donating money, non-perishable food, clothing and other supplies or by giving your time volunteering or providing temporary housing. Every little bit helps.”
The Camp Fire in northern California is the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history with a close to 1,000 people missing and 77 people dead. Officials said full containment of the fire isn’t expected to happen until November 30.
Thousands are helping the victims as homes are wiped out and families are left in shelters or living in their cars. Exhausted firefighters continue to battle around the clock going above and beyond the call of duty to help others.
Metallica also shared a video of their live, acoustic performance of “All Within My Hands” from their recent All Within My Hands Foundation Helping Hands benefit concert which raised $1.3 million for the foundation.
