The majority of school children in America get to school on a bus, Most of us can remember riding one and the excitement of joining or friends on the way to school or getting home to see our parents.
The majority of school children don’t take much notice getting on and off the bus as all school buses have flashing stop signs and drivers traveling in both directions are required to stop.
It’s hard to believe that some motorists ignore these signs and still speed by buses every day. Now, one Canadian province is taking this offence very seriously ensuring that drivers caught doing this will have their driving privileges taken away.
It’s hard to believe that almost 200 people are killed in school vehicle related collisions every year. Too many of these include children getting on and off school buses.
This issue has come to the forefront recently after a woman in Florida recorded numerous vehicles speeding past a school bus which was stationary with its stop sign out. Her video was posted online and immediately went viral.
You can see her video below. The local sheriff’s office confirmed that 13 people were cited in response to the video.

Another motorist recorded a video of a school bus having to stop across both lanes to ensure a child could cross safely and board the bus.
The fact this bus driver felt the need to take such a precaution could indicate he didn’t trust the drivers around him would actually stop for his young passengers.

Now the province of Prince Edward Island in Canada is taking matters into its own hands. Anyone caught failing to stop for a school bus when its lights are flashing will lose their license for three months and be fined up to $5,000, NBC News reports.
According to CBC Radio-Canada, the province already had the highest fines in Canada for failing to stop for a school bus, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
