Blocked toilet and no plunger at home – then my neighbor revealed this genius tip

A blocked toilet is something we’ve all had to deal with at some time or other. It’s also one of the most annoying household problems to have to solve. Everyone is obviously completely dependent on having a functioning toilet, although it’s really not nice having to clean the drain …

If you are not a plumber or if you don’t have a plunger to hand, it can be very difficult to figure out what to do if your toilet gets clogged.

Recently when I was trying to fix a blocked toilet, I asked my neighbor if he had a plunger I could borrow. He didn’t, but he did have a smart tip that I’ve made sure to remember since, and that I think is worth sharing!

He showed me a video online explaining a simple trick to clear a blocked toilet, and the tip is as smart as it is simple!

Step 1: Towels

Place some towels around the toilet, just in case!

Step 2: Dish liquid

Pour about a cup of dish liquid into the toilet. Then pour a bucket (or as much water as will fit into the toilet) of warm water into the toilet bowl. Let it sit for around 20 minutes.

Step 3: Pour in more warm water

Now the water should have sunk back down to a nearly normal level in the toilet. Pour one more bucket of warm water into the toilet. This increases the water cycle and pushes blockages further down the pipes and out.

Hopefully, this will help and if not, you may want to think about contacting a professional plumber.
