Woman tapes dog’s mouth shut and posts picture online – arrested after thousands report her to the police

If you’re a responsible dog owner, you do everything you can to ensure your dog is happy and healthy.

I cannot understand those seemingly responsible pet owners who do really stupid things to their animals and then treat it like a joke; when really, it’s cruel.

Take, for example, this woman who taped her dog’s mouth shut and posted a picture of it on Facebook with the caption, “this is what happens when you don’t shut up!!”

Her post was shared by 45,000 horrified animal lovers who saw nothing funny about the Florida woman’s post, and neither did a judge.

A woman, who used the Facebook profile name “Katie Brown,” sparked a storm of protests, some from as far away as Australia, when she posted the picture of her chocolate Labrador mix called Brown, with duct tape around its mouth.

Lemanksy prompted a public outcry and a flood of messages were reportedly sent to local officials from thousands of people after she posted the picture of her dog on Friday

Following a stream of angry comments from thousands of people, Katharine implied that it was a just a joke and the tape had only been on for 60 seconds.

Her Facebook account listed her as being in the South Daytona part of Florida and as floods of emails and calls came into Daytona Police more help had to be brought in to trace them all, according to NBC Connecticut.

Many of the comments were aggressive such as “I want to duct tape this lady’s mouth shut,” according to Inside Edition.

The South Daytona police chief told WESH News that some commenters had even made death threats.

Eventually, the woman was traced to an address in North Carolina where police arrested her on charges of animal cruelty.

At her hearing her attorneys tried to argue that the post had only been meant for her son as a joke and there was no evidence the dog felt any pain.

To which the then-assistant-District Attorney Alex Pulley replied, “Of course the dog cannot be here and tell you it felt pain,” according to the News Journal.

She was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation by the judge, the News Journal reported. However, she could keep the dogs as police officers found them to be microchipped, clean, and well fed, the Epoch Times reported.
