27-year-old Nim Murphy quit her job working as a stage crew member for artists on tour and says that she can’t work again unless she gets plastic surgery. Because she can’t afford the operation herself she wants welfare hand outs, which she claims to have the right to.
The state did not grant her wish, and the case has now received great attention in the media and made people furious. The reason? She wants them to pay for her breast reduction.
Working on a tour crew for concerts and festivals involves a lot of physical work, and for 27-year-old Nim Murphy from Australia it became too taxing because of her big breasts. Nim said that the strain from her double H breasts caused her to hurt her back and neck. She also gets frequent migraines.
“About two and a half years ago I had to call in sick because I got out the front door and started vomiting in my front yard just from the pain and so I had to stop working,” Nim tells Daily Mail.
Can’t afford the operation
In the end the burden became too much, and Nim quit her job because of the pain caused by her breasts. She wanted a breast reduction, but since she didn’t have any health insurance she could not afford to pay for it. It was only possible if the state financed it.
Has to wait years
Nim was denied her application for breast reduction surgery. Her case was not considered urgently necessary. But according to Nim and her partner, her breasts cause such bad headaches that it affects every day of her life.
“I can’t work, I can’t exercise properly, I can’t do most things,” Nim says.
