Kelly Clarkson settles divorce from ex Brandon Blackstock almost 2 years after they split

It appears the end is finally in sight for Kelly Clarkson as regards her lengthy divorce battle with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

According to reports, the pair have just about finalized their separation after almost two years of constant back-and-forth. Though neither Kelly nor Brandon has disclosed details of their agreement, it would appear that both are satisfied with the terms.

The circumstances regarding the pair splitting after seven years of marriage remain cloudy. Kelly previously told the media that the divorce had its roots in earlier issues between the couple, while also hinting that COVID-19 quarantining had played a part.

That said, neither party has opened up on what was the final straw that ended their relationship. It’s believed that they will share joint custody of their two children moving forward, 7-year-old River Rose and 5-year-old Remington Alexander.

As part of the divorce agreement, Kelly will make a one-time, tax-free payment of some $1.3 million to Brandon, while also paying child support of $45,601 per month to her ex-husband for River and Remington.

On top of that, Kelly will reportedly pay $115,000 per month in spousal support up until January 31, 2024.

Via the divorce settlement, Kelly will keep both of the pair’s homes in Montana – including the family home that Brandon will move out of in June – as well as “all guns acquired prior and during the marriage” and other hunting accessories such as a Can-Am 4-wheeler and a bush hog.

Brandon, meanwhile, is said to be keeping farm cattle, livestock, stock dogs, and horses, amongst a host of vehicles including a Ford F-350, a Ford F-250, an ATV, and several CAT snowmobiles.

It was back in June of 2020 that Kelly Clarkson first dropped the bombshell news that she would be splitting from Brandon Blackstock. The couple had been together since 2012.

Kelly cited “irreconcilable differences” as the legal grounds for divorce, which technically meant that they couldn’t get along with one another enough to keep the marriage alive.

For many, the news came as a surprise. Personally, I really thought Kelly and Brandon would last forever – they seemed to be the perfect couple. And obviously, I wasn’t the only one taken back.

“It came out of nowhere. It’s all so sad for the kids. They were always such a loving family. It never seemed like they had any issues,” one source told E! News.

Interestingly, just a few days before the split became public, Kelly Clarkson, 39, revealed some details in an interview with Glamour Magazine.

Among other things, she talked about spending time with her family during COVID lockdown, in quarantine at the family’s ranch in Montana.

“Honestly, I have been on an emotional roller coaster,” she said.

“This has been really hard as a working parent, because I’m still doing all the same jobs. It’s been exhausting, honestly, cooking every meal and cleaning nonstop after toddlers and teenagers! Everybody’s learning from home now, and the teaching! So, everything has been crazy.”

I sincerely hope both Kelly and Brandon can move forward with their lives now. Divorces can be truly ugly things, so I hope that neither party in this one holds a grudge.
