Toy Story star Tom Hanks is known for stopping whatever he’s doing to spend time with fans, congratulate a newly married couple or buy girl scout cookies.
But now you can add doting grandfather to the list as Rita and Tom’s son Chet has come out in praise of his parents and the love they have for their grand daughters.
Chet also shared a rare picture of himself with his daughter who he credits for saving his life. The image is adorable.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have been married for 30 years and are a shining example of enduring love, despite the distractions of living in a celebrity world.
Rita Wilson, an actress, singer and producer and Hollywood screen legend Tom Hanks have four children, two from their marriage, Chester and Truman; and two from Tom’s previous relationship, Colin and Elizabeth.
Colin, Tom’s eldest son, is the father of the actor’s two oldest grandchildren, seven-year-old Olivia and four-year-old Charlotte. While Chester or Chet has a daughter, Michaiah, from his relationship with Tiffany Miles.

The “Empire” actor has had a tumultuous life battling substance abuse but says it was the moment he learned he was going to be a dad that he decided to stop.
Daughter Michaiah ‘saved his life’
“For me, it took something drastic happening, like becoming a father, for me to make the change,” he told ET Online.
Before his daughter Michaiah was born, who he says “saved his life,” it was Tom and Rita who were there to help him get sober.
“They couldn’t be more supportive,” he told ET Online. “Every step of the way… They’ve always been there for me and I’m really lucky.”

Chet’s daughter was born in 2016 and in an Instagram video that has been deleted now, Chet said:
“I have a daughter…She’s the reason why I turned my life around and got sober. I’ve been sober for over a year and a half from everything. I don’t post her on Instagram because her privacy is sacred to me.”
Every step of the way
Chet also revealed how much strength it gives him to see his parents loving every minute of being doting grandparents to his little girl.
“They couldn’t be more supportive,” Chet stated, adding that his parents have been there for him “every step of the way…” and that they also really “love being grandparents.”
“It’s awesome seeing them being grandparents as well because I was really close with my grandparents and now my daughter gets to have the same experience,” Chet Hanks shared.
Chet also said that his parents offer to babysit “all the time”, something that every parent knows is like an offer sent from heaven!
‘Coolest grandparents’
Doting dad and grandparent Tom joked about how cool he and Rita are as grandparents, refusing to put the TV on and instead offering their own entertainment
“When you have grandkids, if you’re with one of them — or all three of them – look, there’s no book, no radio, no TV,” Tom told Entertainment Tonight
“You’re going to be entertained by them every moment that you’re there. Sit back and watch the show!”

Tom then admitted that his granddaughters don’t feel the same.
“I think they just put up with us,” he said. And Rita added, “Sometimes they just look at us like, ‘What?'”
Tom and Rita adore their grand kids but have made the smart decision not to post pictures of them on social media for their safety.
A tradition started by their other son Colin and then continued by Chet.

Chet did make an exception at Christmas and posted the cutest picture of himself with his beautiful daughter.
He wrote, “Doing all the things that my dad used to do with me. No better feeling. Merry Christmas everyone.”
