Christian is only a few months old but has already had a tough start in life.
He was born with a visual impairment and has been unable to see his parents other than cloudy outlines.
Until now!
Christian, from Detroit, was born with a visual impairment. All babies are born with slightly poor vision, so Christian’s issues weren’t readily apparent.
It took three months before Christian’s parents could tell that their beloved son couldn’t see properly.
After three months, babies should be able to make eye contact with their parents – but Christian couldn’t.
He could only see cloudy outlines of the people around him. The visual defect was too difficult to correct with surgery, especially on such a small child.
Luckily, his eyesight could be improved with glasses. Now that Christian is getting a little bigger, he was able to get a pair of specially made “baby” glasses.
His doctor prescribed the little boy some special baby glasses. These are made out of soft plastic, unlike normal glasses.
For the first time in his life, he could finally see what his mom and dad look like clearly.
In the clip below you can see him try on his new glasses for the first time. You can see that as soon as the lenses settled on the baby’s small eyes, Christian was amazed.
He’s not quite sure what to make of them at first and starts to cry but the expression on his face when he realizes he can see his parents properly is so touching.
“Hi munchkin!” Christian’s mom said. Christian laughed. It’s perhaps the cutest thing ever captured on video!
