Old tire rims make for the best DIY fire pits!

Don’t want to spend bookoos on a new BBQ. Have some spare car rims buried in your junk pile? Want to impress your friends with your creative genius?

Well here is a Do It Yourself project that will accomplish all the above!

This is supposed to be a “redneck” way to grill, but it looks like it works no matter where you’re from…

And since these grills are basically free — you just need a couple of wheel rims — why not get in the DIY spirit and make yourself a new grill?

You could be cooking up some burgers and dogs in the backyard in no time!

There are plenty of junkyards that are happy to let these tire rims go for a small fee, assuming you haven’t kept these lying around your garage as my husband has.

When I saw this DIY project I couldn’t help but look a little closer.

Personally, I love repurposing what others might call “junk” into something new. Upcycling items that are traditionally used for one purpose into a completely new is really cool.

This DIY fire pit will be rather small, but choose truck or tractor tires for a more sizable outcome.

Putting a grate on top also makes this double as an open air grill if you need some extra space for your BBQ goodies.

It doesn’t take up too much space, but still gives all the warmth you need – so let’s check this video out if you want to know how to build this fire pit.
