It is unbelievable how a single small choice can affect somebody’s future and sometimes that small choice isn’t always an easy one to make.
This is just what happened to 12-year-old boy Shaheen Jafargholi – who had to learn the hard way when he came face to face with straight-talking Simon Cowell.
Shaheen Jafargholi told the judges on U.K. show “Britain’s Got Talent” how he would perform at family events and sing for his friends and family. As his mom waited nervously in the wings the young boy starts singing Amy Winehouse hit “Valerie.”
The jury, on the other hand, was not impressed, especially Simon Cowell.
In his usual harsh way, Simon interrupted Shaheen’s performance, much to the horror of the audience and other judges.
Simon said to the worried-looking 12 year old: “You’ve got this completely wrong,” The boy said nothing and it’s almost as if the arena was holding its breath.
But then Simon asked the 12-year-old if he sang any other songs and Shaheen said Michael Jackson’s “Who’s Lovin You” – a choice that would change everything. So Shaheen got ready to sing his second choice.
After just singing the first line, the crowd went crazy and the judges were clearly blown away by this boy’s talent. He had released his amazing voice and everyone was mesmerized.
The boy’s audition is like a roller coaster of emotions: from total disaster to euphoria … and it’s just so beautiful to see!

For all the criticism surrounding Simon Cowell he clearly knows what he’s doing. He realized that the song selection did not show off the 12-year-old’s true talent, and although it seemed harsh for a moment, it was exactly what Shaheen needed.
