Video shows Rami Malek’s perfect portrayal of Freddie Mercury’s moves – the likeness is scary

Actor Rami Malek’s portrayal of Queen front man and rock legend Freddie Mercury has earned him a Golden Globe award for best drama actor.

Despite the movie Bohemian Rhapsody not doing all that well at the box office, it also earned an award for best picture at this year’s awards ceremony.

Now fans have compared Rami’s performance to the Queen front man and the resemblance is shocking, so much so the video has gone viral. See for yourself below and prepare to be amazed.

The video, which was made by @ThisGameisEasy and posted on Twitter by Best of Freddie Mercury, shows how the movie’s portrayal of the band’s 1985 Live Aid performance is practically identical to the real thing, according to the Daily Mail.

It’s clear how much talented young star Rami studied for his role as the hugely talented singer songwriter. The two videos are posted side by side and are completely in sync with one another.

He confirmed his dedication to the part in an interview with news.com.au,

“That’s something we tried to get move for move, even just gesture for gesture perfectly,” he said. “Every day we did (filmed) a song. Day one, Bohemian. Day two, Radio Gaga. Day three, Hammer To Fall and the Day-O. Four we did Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Five, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions and on the sixth day we rested,” he joked.

“It felt like sometimes you would lose a little bit of the authenticity if you tried to nail it so perfectly.

“Things won’t exactly always match up, there might be a hint of something that’s off, but I think that kept it feeling really alive and at the moment and it was better to sacrifice it that way, but yeah, I was watching it non-stop,” explained Rami.

He revealed how much of a perfectionist he is in a recent interview with the New York Times  admitting that he had never devoted himself as intensely to anything as this role.

“I don’t want to leave until I know it’s been executed as best as possible,” he said. “I know my limits, but I do reach them quite a bit,” Malek said, “I can’t be Freddie on command for the rest of my life, right?”

If you haven’t already seen this movie, then what are you waiting for?!

Rami was born in LA to Egyptian immigrant parents. He has a twin brother called Sami and an older sister Yasmine.

His big break came playing lead role in USA Network show “Mr Robot” which earned him an Emmy and his lead role in biographical film Bohemain Rhapsody also earned him a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
