Meet Bangladesh’s ”Benjamin Button”, a newborn who resembles an 80-year-old…
He looks like he’s in his 80s, but he also has the body of a newborn. An infant born in Bangladesh, in 2016, stunned the doctors at a hospital when he arrived to the world.
But if you think this is a scene straight out of ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, you are mistaken. This baby boy from Bangladesh has progeria, and the cells in his body break down much faster than normal.
The disease, which affects one in 4 million, is causing him to rapidly age.
A doctor who treated the boy said: ‘The baby does not look like a new born at all. There are prominent sings of ageing such a excessive wrinkles and rough skin texture.’
Unfortunately, it also means that he’ll die prematurely. Most people with progeria don’t survive longer than 10-13 years. The baby was born to a poor farmer couple, Parul Patro and Biswajit Patro, in Bhulbaria village in Bangladesh.
But while he may look different, but this little boy is fortunate to have parents who love him just the way he is.
”We will accept him the way he is. We are so happy to have a baby boy in the house.We are already blessed to have to have a daughter. Now we are a family of four. What else can we ask for,” his father, Biswajit Patro, told the Daily Mail.
Instead of being afraid and shunning him, the boy’s parents have decided that he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to them.
“We can only thank God. There is no need to be unhappy about the appearance of my son. We will accept him the way he is. We are so happy to have a baby boy in the house,” Biswajit Patro told the Daily Mail.
Biswajit and his wife, Parul, also have a daughter.

It’s sad that he won’t live long.
But I’m convinced that his parents will give him a good life.
At least he has a caring family willing to except him the way he is. Appearances don’t matter and he has clearly landed in the right family!
