Drones are undoubtedly amazing for capturing aerial images over nature and wildlife. But for an animal lover named Dave, the images he caught on a quiet farm in Millbrook, Ontario, revealed so much more than that.
It was an ordinary day when Dave decided to fly his drone over cows on a remote farm surrounded only by infinite beautiful scenery. The ordinary day suddenly turned into something different — when Dave looked closer at what his drone captured.
The first images that animal lover Dave caught were rather ordinary; beautiful nature and cows on a farm. But a closer look and he realized something was out of the ordinary — and his discovery would end up saving lives.
A detail among the cows
When he flew his drone in closer, he spotted Linda — a cow whose nose looked unlike the others. At first, Dave thought its nose was covered with grass or hay, but when he zoomed in, he realized that there were more than a dozen hedgehog’s spines stuck to it.
Leaves him terrified
The discovery made Dave realize that Linda had to be suffering. He knew it could be dangerous for her to have such prickly thorns seated in the middle of her nose. If they sit for too long, the risk of a serious infection is high. So, aware that Linda was in need of immediate care, Dave contacted the farm owner to notify them about his discovery.
Linda received immediate care. She was anesthetized and that the spines were removed from her nose. She was then treated with antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection.
Retrieved quickly
Thanks to Dave’s discovery with his drone, and the prompt treatment from the owner, Linda could recover. Her pain was gone and the risk of infection was gone. Linda could once again be released into the garden and be reunited with her newborn calf. All thanks to the animal lover Dave’s quick action.
