Country icon Dolly Parton joined on stage by goddaughter Miley Cyrus – and their special bond is undeniable

Days after the 2019 Grammys aired people are still talking about the speeches and of course, the magnificent performances.

From Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Diana Ross and who could forget Alicia Keys playing two pianos! But there was one performance that was extra special for its pure sweetness.

The legendary country singer Dolly Parton was joined by her goddaughter Miley Cyrus for her Grammys’ tribute.

They both sang the equally legendary song ‘Jolene’ and put their sweet bond on display as they hit all the right notes. It was a spine-tingling performance.

Each woman is a star in their own right and while Miley has dipped into different music styles she’s never forgotten her southern roots.

Her connection with Dolly comes from a long-lasting friendship with the 26-year-old’s father and fellow musician Billy Ray Cyrus.

In a ten-minute tribute to the woman who brought country music to the world, she was first joined on stage by Kacey Musgraves and Katy Perry, dressed in red and singing the first of the evening’s hits from Dolly “Here you come again.”

Next up was Dolly’s goddaughter, newly married pop star Miley Cyrus, who made an entrance dressed in a dazzling gold embroidered suit.

She belted out the Dolly classic “Jolene”, harmonizing beautifully with her godmother while the crowd jumped to its feet.

Dolly, who hasn’t appeared at the Grammys since 2001, shared a tender moment with her goddaughter at the end of the performance when she touched her arm and told her “I appreciate you.”

The star-studded crowd went wild and Maren Morris joined the duo to sing Neil Young’s “After the Gold Rush,” with Miley and Dolly.
